Arcadia proudly accepts unsolicited fiction submissions. If you wish to submit, please email the first 10,000 words, or the first three chapters of your novel to submissions@arcadia-books.co.uk in the following format:
- – Word doc
- – Font: Times New Roman
- – Font size: 12
- – Spacing: Double-spaced
Please include a brief cover letter in the body of the email, telling us a little about your book and yourself, and a short synopsis (no longer than one page) in a separate attachment.
Keep an eye on our blog for tips about writing killer cover letters, bios, blurbs and synopses!
Please note the following:
We will only accept submissions that can be categorized as Science Fiction, Fantasy or Horror.
Your work must contain some element of the speculative or the fantastical in order to be considered.
The manuscript must be complete at the time that you submit it to us.
We are happy to consider YA/Crossover as long as it is firmly crossover; e.g., will appeal to adult readers and can be published on an adult list.
We regret that we cannot consider non-fiction projects at this time.
We cannot consider short stories, novellas, or anthologies of shorter works.
Representation:
Arcadia Books is not an agency, but a publishing house. If you are looking for representation we recommend you use The Writers’ and Artists’ Yearbook, which contains a comprehensive and up-to-date list of agents currently taking on new authors.
Manuscript Wish List is also a great place to look for agents who are taking on new authors.
Feedback and responses:
Given the volume of submissions we receive, we regret to say that it is not possible to respond to everyone individually, and we do not give feedback. If you have not heard from us within six months, please assume you have been unsuccessful in this instance.
Please only submit one book at a time.
You are welcome to submit another book if we pass on your previous project.
What we’re looking for:
Anne, the publishing director of Arcadia Books, has a comprehensive wishlist posted on Manuscript Wish List. If you would like more of a steer about her taste and what she’s looking for at the moment, that’s a great place to start!
