Tender and unforgettable, Love Bites is a laugh-out-loud, queer romance with a surprising paranormal twist.

Two years after a painful divorce, Chloë is still struggling to leave the house, paralysed by anxiety and memory. So when she’s bullied into a night of dancing by her busybody aunt and finds herself in a goth club, on her own, in a strange part of town, she isn’t looking for anything more than to pass the time until she can leave.

Then she meets Angela, a smart, beautiful astronomy Ph.D. student whose smile makes her heart pound. In Angela’s eyes, Chloë can see a future. Suddenly, home alone is the last place Chloë wants to be.

Trouble is, Angela can only come out at night. Angela doesn’t feel the cold. Angela doesn’t eat. Angela doesn’t have a pulse. Angela has sharp and deadly teeth.

Angela and Chloë might just be perfect for each other. But how do you build a life together when one of you is already dead?

Reviews

Its depictions of depression and trauma are heartfelt, and its message of hope is hard to resist. If you've grown out of Twilight but still fancy some monsters in your comfort reads, this could be just the sweet, emotionally literate, non-sparkly love story you're looking for

As far as dry, quirky humour goes, Ry Herman does it well. This was a book that I needed, in a time when I certainly needed it. I would certainly recommend this book
Dear Geek Place
Love Bites is about finding love and relearning trust after abuse, even as the characters still struggle with fear and guilt: this creates two main characters who are realistically flawed, incredibly multi-faceted. This is a story with sharp wit, writing that has you laughing one moment and deep in empathy the next. Outside of the characters, the setting comes across strongly even for someone who has no idea what Boston looks like; we see the surroundings play out in almost lyrical prose, concentrated on specific moments and motions

I do enjoy urban fantasy novels that take the real world and give it a tiny twist to see what happens. Love Bites must have one of the subtlest yet. This book may be about vampires, but it all felt very human to me
SF Book Reviews
The perfect rom-com between two girls, a human and a vampire. The characters are strongly built and develop as the story evolves. A good story for everyone who is into the genre
Book Nerd Café
A terrific, vibrant, emotional and funny read
Theresa Derwin
It was fun to read a vampire novel where the vampires didn't sparkle but didn't sleep in coffins either
Jessticulates
Fun, dark and mysterious with quirky characters, this really was a nice take on the vampire story!
